Open Letter to the Board of Selectmen

Dorset Crossing Public Forum

SCF was founded by individuals from all three political parties who were interested in the common goals of an open, transparent, and responsive form of government for our town.  We feel it is imperative  that all Boards and Commissions welcome public audience and comment during their meetings, and  respond to the public's concerns. We support the premise that these Boards and Commissions be comprised of qualified individuals chosen for their expertise not their party affiliation.

In  the 2005 municipal elections only  34% of registered voters  exercised their right to vote. This past fall we embarked on the campaign trail as a third party in our first election appearance and what a success it was. Our goal of educating the public on the issues was achieved resulting in  an extremely high voter turnout of over 50%. SCF candidates garnered over 20% of the vote.  We are happy to report that four of our candidates are now your elected officials, Julie Meyer-Planning, Bruce Elliott-Zoning,  John Vaughn-Zoning, and John McCann-Zoning Board of Appeals. Not bad for a new third party!

As we move forward, we look forward to working with you, the Citizens of Simsbury to reign in our taxes and town budgets and promote much needed economic development. We welcome your comments and hope that you will join our efforts.  For more information click on the Bylaws link above, or e-mail us .
