Simsbury Citizens First participated in the Volunteer Expo held Tuesday, April 28th at Eno Hall. Our organization manned a booth and offered Simsbury residents the opportunity to cast a vote in a straw poll. The question asked was “Do you favor a Town Manager or First Selectman form of government for Simsbury?” The results were as follows:
· First Selectman 29 votes
· Town Manager 22 votes
· Undecided 3 votes
While some people had very definite opinions one way or another, there were many people who asked for clarification on the difference between the two forms of government. Generally, the people in favor of First Selectman form of government preferred to have their vote determine the leader while those in favor of Town Manager seemed to feel that the job needs a professional with expertise in municipal finance and management.
Simsbury Citizens First is researching and discussing this issue. We always like to hear from you, the residents, so feel free to email us with your thoughts and opinions on this question.

SCF was founded by individuals from all three political parties who were interested in the common goals of an open, transparent, and responsive form of government for our town. We feel it is imperative that all Boards and Commissions welcome public audience and comment during their meetings, and respond to the public's concerns. We support the premise that these Boards and Commissions be comprised of qualified individuals chosen for their expertise not their party affiliation.
